Vision is the starting point if you’re trying to get anywhere in life. You have to see where you’re going or you could end up where you didn’t intend to go, or worse, become paralyzed by a lack of vision and refuse to go anywhere. On top of that, without a vision of where you’re going, you’ll never know when you get there because you have no idea how it looks or even if you’re on the right path.
Without a doubt, having a vision is essential to your life goals and you shouldn’t start anything without one.
Before I continue, let’s define vision. Open any dictionary and you’ll find vision primarily defined as having the ability to see. It is synonymous with sight, eyesight, view and dream.
I really like the second definition provided on dictionary.com for it really speaks to how I’m using the term. It says that vision is the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be: prophetic vision.
Another definition I really like is that vision is how it looks like when it’s finished (when the plan comes together in the end).
Vision looks ahead and clearly defines how things look in its end state. {click to tweet}
Now, as easy as this sounds many don’t have a vision for their life. It’s estimated that 2-3 out of 10 people have a clear, concrete and positive vision.
If you are one of those 2-3 individuals with a vision, are you consistently experiencing the end result? Do you have what you see? Have you moved from seeing to the next step, which is calling those things? (more on that here)
If you are one of the 7-8 individuals without a vision, what’s holding you back from getting one?
At times we’re trying to see ahead with our natural eye. The natural eye can only see as far as we can physically see. Your vision may only come about by thinking on the right things first (more on that here).
Just think about all the thoughts you have in one day. Which ones are screaming the loudest for your attention? Which thoughts are competing with your desires?
Silencing the competing thoughts and thinking on supporting thoughts is the key to moving forward.
If you’re serious about your vision or getting a vision, this is where you need to start.
